The Queensland Police Sporting Association QPSA was formed in 1986 and incorporated in 1987. The QPSA is a strictly non-profit body, responsible for helping Queensland Police personnel enjoy sport competition, in Queensland, interstate and overseas.

Since its inception, the QPSA has helped countless personnel compete in a wide variety of sporting meets, including the Australia & New Zealand Police Games, International Law Enforcement Games, and World Police & Fire Games.

In 1991 and 2001, the QPSA successfully hosted the Australia & New Zealand Police Games in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The QPSA will again be hosting the Australia and New Zealand Police and Emergency Services Games in 2016.
